ACTIAN VECTORWISE – screamingly fast slice and dice anyone?

Actian Vectorwise in a nutshell

Building on its Ingres RDBMS heritage, Actian offers the big data world an analytical processor called Vectorwise. Current users include major web services players, such as Badoo, Unruly Media and Oxford University’s clinical research team as well as blue chip users, such as Xerox, Dixon’s and Sheetz, a quick service restaurant chain.

The Vectorwise claim to fame rests on its ability to crunch SQL fast, REALLY fast – including even ‘badly behaved’ code. In benchmarks against Oracle, IBM and Microsoft SQL Server, Vectorwise leaves them all behind, according to the Transaction Processing Council….
